Before You Rent

What you should do before you rent:

  1. Verify the person you are giving your rent and security deposit to is the owner or represents the owner.  Search Ownership.
  2. Verify that the owner is current on the mortgage and the property is not in foreclosure.
  3. Inspect the property and note any and all damage to the property before you move in.  Have damage list signed by landlord/owner.
  4. Lease should be in writing on an Arizona Lease Agreement.
  5. Know you rights as a tenant.
  6. Obtain renters insurance.
  7. Read and understand the lease agreement.
